Lost Buoys Storm Plan

48 – 36 hours before landfall

·        Determine if park will stay open or close

·        Remove or secure loose outside items

·        Close and secure pool

·        Turn off hot water heater

·        Fuel Vehicles

·        Close and board all buildings

·        Evacuate area if ordered

36 – 12 hours before landfall

·        Sewer hoses will be disconnected from the system and capped

·        Water hoses disconnected

·        Bathhouse and laundry closed

·        Water to park shut off

·        Power to park shut off

·        Park closed

·        Park staff will vacate

After Landfall

·        Park and utilities inspected for damage

·        Park remains closed until power and water are restored

·        Power turned on

·        Water turned on

·        Determination when park will reopen

·        Guest will be notified via text message and emails

Guest Should:

·        Keep RV in good working condition

·        Keep insurance up to date

·        Make sure park office has current phone number and email

·        Remove or secure loose items from under RV

·        Fill freshwater tanks

·        Check and repair if needed all vehicle batteries

·        Keep propane tanks full

·        Have a plan  – if we are told to evacuate you will not be allowed to stay,

                  Where are you going?

                   How are you getting there?

·        Do not return to the park until it is safe to do so and you have received confirmation from park that it is open

·        Bring extra water and food with you on your return

·        Be aware of hazards – trees, power lines, etc

Emergency check list

·        Bottled Water – 1 gallon per person per day

·        Canned/dry food – 5 day supply

·        Manual can opener

·        Flashlight and extra batteries

·        Battery powered radio

·        Spare clothing, soap, and personal items, toilet paper

·        Sleeping bags

·        Prepaid phone card

·        Telephone numbers

·        Cell phone and chargers

·        Maps

·        Important/insurance papers in a water tight container

·        Driver’s license/ ID

·        Social Security cards

·        Proof of residence

·        Medication

  • First Aid Kit

·        Extra pet food and water if needed

·        Emergency cash

Hurricane Season Atlantic:  June 1 – November 30.                  Depending on the severity of the storm and the projected track of the storm we may implement part or all of our Tropical Storm or Hurricane plan.  Any coastal visitor should listen to state and local officials if a warning or watch is issued and follow their directions.  Your safety is of the utmost importance.

Hurricane Watch:  Hurricane conditions are possible in the area of the watch, usually within 36 hours.
Hurricane Warning:  Hurricane conditions are expected in the area of the warning, usually within 24 hours.

  • Category One: Winds 74 to 95 miles per hour (mph). ...

  • Category Two: Winds 96 to 110 mph.

  • Category Three: Winds 111 to 130 mph.

  • Category Four: Winds 131 to 155 mph.

  • Category Five: Winds greater than 155 mph
